He’s referring to this BDO Business Trends survey, which shows a slithering thump in them ol’animal spirits since May. This may, of course, reflect fear for the major European export markets in the light of the Greek crisis, or perhaps horror at the thought of the World Cup - it’s a mug’s game trying to match fast changing indicators to transient events - but it’s certainly reasonable that a bout of economic self-harm would do it.
